Clayton Country Inn is located in the heart of Oklahoma's beautiful Kiamichi Mountain Country -- easily accessible from Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Dallas. Enjoy nine large, comfortable guest rooms or a duplex guest cottage -- two complete apartments, each with living room, bedroom, equipped kitchenette and fireplace.

The great room in the Inn is maintained for the pleasure of our guests with its high, log-beamed ceiling, natural rock fireplace, easy chairs and big sofas, television, and the wide windows with a view of the mountains and river which create a restful setting for games, reading or just plain and fancy loafing.

The knotty pine and fireplace theme is carried from the great room into our dining room where you will enjoy excellent food prepared with the utmost care. We serve only the finest steaks, chicken and other meats which are complimented with carefully selected salads, vegetables, breads, pastries and desserts.

To fully understand the old inn craze, you should know that it is based on the fact that every inn worth its salt and is absolutely unique. They are delightful alternatives to this all-too-plastic world in which travelers are assured that every motel is absolutely identical to every other motel.

So search out places where floors creak, people are friendly, windows are old and room numbers are unnecessary. For a night and a day we can be ourselves, luxuriating in our idiosyncrasies and our innkeeper's independence.

Clayton Country Inn was formerly the Hambay House, owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. Glen L. Hambay for many years. It was acquired by Bob and Betty Lundgren in 1983 and has been completely renovated for the comfort of their guests.

Life at Clayton Country Inn appeals to both the most active and the least active among us -- and to most of us in between.

For the most active there is hunting -- deer, ducks and wild turkey in season among other wildlife. Fishing for black bass and other game fish in Sardis Lake or Clayton Lake will satisfy others with an active taste while dirt biking or horseback riding in the mountains (bring your own bikes and horses please) will appeal to still others.

If your tastes call for something a little less active, consider the scenic drives in the comfort of your own car in the beautiful Kiamichi Mountains. We are only a short distance from the famous Talimena Skyline Drive -- one of Oklahoma's best known scenic attractions.

Come to Kiamichi Country regardless of season or weather. It is beautiful when it rains. The clouds touch the mountain tops, and the rains come and go quickly so the sun can shine again.
